The MoE Backpack Drive 2008

The time is upon us once again and Men of Essence, or MoE (www.essencemen.org), a local charitable 501c3 organization, is planning a Kickoff event to benefit its 2nd ANNUAL BACK-TO-SCHOOL BACKPACK DRIVE!!! The MoE Backpack Drive Kickoff Event will take place at the home of Michael Troupe, a proud supporter of MoE, who resides in North Dallas. The date of this event is June 14th, 2008. This charitable effort will benefit children served by The Great Plains Restoration Council (www.gprc.org), the 2000 Roses Foundation (www.2000roses.org), Jonathan's Place (www.jpkids.org), and the South Dallas Cultural Center (http://www.dallasculture.org/southDallasCulturalCenter.cfm). All organizations are also 501c3 certified.
MoE was founded in order to promote positive images of gay men of color within the mainstream. It was also founded in order to provide a social platform that will assist the gay community of color to recognize its potential in overcoming adversities such as rising HIV/AIDS statistics, minimal mainstream role models, challenged mainstream social acceptance, and so forth.
In 2007, MoE set out with a goal of acquiring 100 backpacks. Thanks to sponsors like you, we acquired 120 backpacks. We filled them with supplies at the facility of The Great Plains Restoration Council and gave them to kids who welcomed the donations with open arms. This year, we’re setting a goal of acquiring at least 150 backpacks for our beneficiaries.
The MoE Back-to-School Backpack Drive Kickoff Event promises to be one of the most rewarding and enjoyable events of the summer. After the Backpack Drive Kickoff Event on June 14th, the Official Backpack Drive will continue to the last week of July. The backpacks will be awarded to children during the first 2 weeks of August, before school is back in session.
By becoming a DONOR or SILENT AUCTION CONTRIBUTOR to the Kickoff Event, Men of Essence will announce your participation throughout the drive via its website and any other announcements concerning this effort. Depending on your sponsorship or donation level, you will receive invitations to the Kickoff Event and immediate recognition as a donor/contributor to a cause that promotes social change and educating our precious youth. All donations will be tax deductible within limits of the law.
The Men of Essence organization truly values your support and encouragement as we continue to positively impact the community. Please include all contact information including name, address, phone numbers, and preferred time of day to be contacted. Also, attach any logos you would like displayed. Logos must be in hi-res, 300dpi JPG or GIF format if you would like them used on the invitation. We look forward to receiving your most gracious donations.
