Because Men of Essence is a nonprofit organization founded on the basis of networking in order to meet our mission and purposes, we promote working with other organizations in the community that operate within the scope of our obligations.

Men of Essence Backpack Filling Social and Give Away


On Saturday, August 11, 2007, Men of Essence (D. Lavine, S. Coleman, M. Smith, J. Dotson, T. Rossum) volunteered to close out the 2007 MoE Backpack Drive. Men of Essence filled 100 backpacks to benefit children that are both directly and indirectly benefitted by 501(c)(3) organizations Great Plains Restoration Council (1.5 Hours)

Dallas Black Tie 2006


On Saturday, November 11, 2006, Men of Essence (D. Lavine & S. Coleman) volunteered for the Dallas annual Black Tie Dinner, offering a total of sixteen volunteer hours. Black Tie celebrated its Twenty Fifth Anniversary and A Legacy of Giving, A History of Service, and A Community of Heroes. Black Tie Dinner, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that raises funds for gay and lesbian supportive organizations serving North Texas through a premier event of empowerment, education and entertainment in partnership with the community. Men of Essence Quarterly Supper Club


On Saturday, September 30, 2006, Men of Essence began its quarterly meal prep volunteer effort. This meal prep activity is fashioned as a networking activity, where attendants also assist Men of Essence in Supper Club, an activity that AIDS Services of Dallas coordinates. Supper Club allows members of the general public to prepare delicious, home-cooked meals for residents of one of their communal buildings. The menu consisted of following items.

Sweet tea
Banana Pudding

Servers were MoE members Stanley Coleman, Delbert Johnson, and Daymond Lavine. (2 Hours)
